Los servicios especializados que prestan diversas entidades para los animales de compañía siguen creciendo y mejorando en la ciudad de Neiva.
Que una enfermedad o una urgencia no se conviertan en un grave problema en la familia y no vaya a afectar las relaciones entre los amos y sus animales de compañía, es uno de los objetivos que buscan los propietarios de tiendas y clínicas de mascotas con el servicio de ambulancia que varias de ellas prestan en Neiva.
Y es que esta labor de asistencia es una de las más solicitadas por los dueños de mascotas que ante una enfermedad o malestar de sus animales, a veces pueden desesperarse al no encontrar una solución, o no comprender el dolor que ellos estén expresando o tratando de comunicar.
Es por ello que la médica Veterinaria y Zootecnista Doris Mercedes Ramírez Moreno, explica que una ambulancia para mascotas consiste en una tarea de recoger a los animales en sus casas para prestarle los servicios de consultas generales, exámenes de laboratorio (hemáticos, por ejemplo), peso, y un buen procedimiento médico, según la enfermedad que presente, ya que muchas personas no tienen tiempo para trasladarlas hasta las clínicas y esperar su debida y oportuna atención.
Asimismo, la profesional egresada de la Universidad del Tolima, agrega que este servicio igualmente posibilita la opción de que los animales sean bañados, tengan una jornada de limpieza, aseo integral y belleza, profilaxis dental, baño medicado en algunos casos especiales que solicitan los dueños de las mascotas.
Para Ramírez Moreno, directora de la Clínica Veterinaria Mascotas, este tipo de ambulancias se diferencian de las que están al servicio de las personas en que la de los seres humanos tienen bala de oxígeno, monitores y otros elementos necesarios, mientras que para las mascotas por espacio y la necesidad de atención inmediata se han adecuado guacales muy cómodos para el traslado del animal y con la compañía de un profesional veterinario para brindar los primeros auxilios.
“La ambulancia para mascotas está acondicionada para que los perros puedan hacer sus necesidades físicas o ante un sangrado se logre atender de manera pertinente y brindar los cuidados en el lugar, sin que se pierda tiempo en el cuidado”, dijo la médica veterinaria Doris Mercedes Ramírez.
Amor por las mascotas
Llevo más de 20 años desempeñándose en Medicina Veterinaria y veo que las mascotas sirven de terapia para las parejas que no han tenido hijos, de compañía a las personas que sufren de soledad, pues “ellos dan mucho amor a cambio prácticamente de nada, sólo que usted le toque la cabeza y responden con agradecimiento, sin esperar otras manifestaciones, distinto al comportamiento humano que busca algo más de una relación”.
Recomendaciones
Si usted quiere tener una mascota en su casa o apartamento, ojo a las siguientes sugerencias que se deben tener en cuenta:
- El sitio. Antes de llevar una mascota a casa, es bueno definirle el lugar con el cual va a contar. Si se está en un apartamento pequeño, no se puede pensar en un perro grande, ya que sufrirán el amo y la mascota por falta de espacio.
- Niños. Si hay niños pequeños en casa, se recomienda una mascota que no tenga mucho pelo, o pelo cortico para poderlo asear, levantar y no afecte la salud de los menores.
- Educación. Es clave que las mascotas tengan un espacio propio en casa y a medida que vayan creciendo, puedan ocupar otros lugares, producto del conocimiento y su relación con el entorno.
- Alimentación. No se pueden estar alimentando a toda hora, sino fijar horarios y de esta manera también regular sus necesidades fisiológicas. Después de cada comida, levantarle los platos.
