El grupo de piratas informáticos Anonymous publicó una conversación telefónica entre el FBI y Scotland Yard en la que discutían operaciones contra las actividades del grupo pirata, señaló la policía federal estadounidense en un comunicado.
La Oficina Federal de Investigación (FBI) confirmó la autenticidad de los casi 17 minutos de grabación difundidos en YouTube y otras páginas, y dijo que esta información estaba “dirigida a agentes del orden y se obtuvo de forma ilegal”.
“Una investigación criminal está en curso para identificar y pedir cuentas a los responsables”, dijo el FBI en un comunicado. Junto a la grabación de la conversación, Anonymous publicó un correo electrónico de un agente del FBI, en el que convoca la teleconferencia el pasado 17 de enero.
El mensaje escrito invita a agentes policiales de Gran Bretaña, Francia, Irlanda, Alemania, Países Bajos y Suecia a participar en una teleconferencia para “hablar de las investigaciones en curso sobre Anonymous, Lulzsec, Antisec y otros grupos escindidos asociados”.
En el mensaje aparece el número al que se ha de llamar y el código de acceso para conectarse a la teleconferencia. En un mensaje difundido a través de la red social Twitter, Anonymous publicó enlaces a las grabaciones y afirmó que el FBI “podría tener curiosidad (de saber) cómo fueron capaces de leer de forma continua su comunicación interna desde hace algún tiempo ahora”.
Según el FBI, ningún sistema computacional fue violado en conexión con este incidente. Graham Cluley, de la empresa de seguridad de computadores Sophos, afirmó que los piratas habrían sido capaces de acceder a la llamada “porque habían puesto en peligro la cuenta de email de un investigador policial”.
“Sin duda las autoridades policiales estarán horrorizadas de descubrir que la misma gente que están tratando de atrapar podría haberse conectado a sus conversaciones internas”, añadió. Durante la llamada, los participantes británicos y estadounidenses hablan de Jake Davis y Ryan Cleary, dos adolescentes británicos arrestados el año pasado por piratería. Otros nombres mencionados durante la conversación fueron silenciados con un pitido.
