Es fundamental promover la convergencia de herramientas de consulta y búsqueda documental y bibliográfica en las bibliotecas públicas para mantener las bibliotecas en conexión con los y las estudiantes, los profesores y las profesoras el mundo.

Las migraciones digitales de lectura y escritura de los y las jóvenes escolares afectan el proceso de enseñanza- aprendizaje en lo que tiene que ver con aspectos cognitivos y tecnológicos del proceso de consulta de información escolar en la biblioteca. Estas consultas han dejado de ser patrimonio exclusivo del libro y de la biblioteca pública en particular. Pero, esto no quiere decir que el libro haya dejado de tener importancia y que la biblioteca no sea útil. Por el contrario, confirma la importancia del libro en complementariedad con las búsquedas por Internet.
En este sentido, aunque los y las estudiantes como parte de una generación digital se alejan cada vez más de las rutas lineales de la cultura impresa de la biblioteca como espacio de consulta y transitan por la interactividad propia de las mentes juveniles conectadas a internet para realizar consultas de información, esto no implica que dejen de ir a la biblioteca y además refuerza la idea que la biblioteca tiene que estar al tanto de las transformaciones de las consultas y búsquedas documentales y bibliográficas de los escolares.
De esta manera es urgente esbozar un plan en las bibliotecas públicas sobre el imperativo de conectarse mediante redes en línea, que no necesariamente significa tener un computador conectado a internet, aunque sí se debe disponer de recursos de sistemas de información para consulta. Este aspecto no es un asunto exclusivo de infraestructura, no obstante que sin conexión a Internet y sin acceso a bases de datos documentales y bibliográficas de indexación no sería posible mantener una biblioteca conectada.
Tipos de consulta educativa
Indagar temas, problemas y ejercicios escolares es una actividad dinámica de exploración según los recursos disponibles. La búsqueda de libros, autores o temáticas de interés escolar es la expresión más evidente de esta indagación. “Buscar” en una biblioteca es una actividad de exploración que es necesaria en cualquier proceso educativo.
Con el auge de las búsquedas electrónicas se instaurado en las instituciones educativas un tipo de consulta que ha impuesto un modelo de búsqueda y consulta por Internet que rivaliza con la consulta bibliotecaria tradicional y que ha obligado a los profesores a revisar la veracidad de la información y el tránsito de reconocimiento de contenidos de un curso escolar a información escolarizada. Este procesamiento de búsqueda de textualidades electrónicas carga con el lastre de la búsqueda y consulta como obligación material de la clase y no como una actividad escolar interesante que permita a los y las jóvenes niveles formativos que garanticen el aprendizaje como un asunto de interés genuino.
La búsqueda por internet no debe sólo ser asociada a diversión sino a seriedad escolar desde los espacios físicos de la biblioteca pública. La biblioteca pública debe brindar el espacio para esta seriedad y confiabilidad de las fuentes documentales y bibliográficas sin que se pierda atractivo tampoco. El gran reto de las bibliotecas públicas en este punto es lograr que las búsquedas que realizan los estudiantes tengan criterios de confiabilidad documental, calidad en el tratamiento de la consulta y veracidad en el contenido de la información.
Fuentes de consulta
Buscar fuentes documentales y bibliográficas obliga a valorar los datos, la información y el conocimiento sobre un tema, por un lado, y su tratamiento escolarizado por el otro. En esta oscilación tiene un papel central el educador que pide a sus estudiantes que realicen consultas.
Del profesor depende el tipo de búsqueda (si indica o no dónde localizar los textos en la biblioteca o por Internet), el tipo de texto que debe buscar (si son documentos, enciclopedias, manuales, libros, autores), si aclara qué hacer con los textos (copiar, leer, comentar). De este recorrido por búsquedas y tipos de textos no puede estar ajena la biblioteca pública, y por el contrario debe estar conectada con los intereses de búsqueda que realicen los y las estudiantes con los tipos de información que soliciten los profesores. Si no hay tal conexión, la biblioteca acaba de perder el núcleo central de institución de búsqueda, consulta y selección de información y conocimiento.
Es otro reto de las bibliotecas públicas mantenerse al tanto de las transformaciones en los criterios de búsqueda de textos en los cuales circula el conocimiento escolar. Esta actualización mantendrá a la biblioteca pública en la cúspide de las instituciones que apoyan la construcción de conocimiento.
Pantallización de la información escolar
La pantallización de la información y el conocimiento se produce en el instante en el cual la búsqueda, consulta y circulación de fuentes documentales y bibliográficas no es clara entre los estudiantes o no ha sido bien especificada por el profesor. La búsqueda y consulta en el computador significa que en la consulta de información escolar convergen otras textualidades que son parte del inventario cognitivo de la biblioteca pública y que hacen complementarias en el proceso de búsqueda misma. Esta convergencia garantiza la profundidad y confiabilidad de los resultados de la búsqueda y consulta documental y bibliográfica. Esto quiere decir que la pantallización de la búsqueda en la biblioteca no significa dejar al azar las búsquedas por Internet o por Bases de indexación bibliográfica, sino mantener actualizada la capacidad de búsqueda de la biblioteca bajo unas orientaciones de consulta (impartidas por el profesor o la biblioteca misma).
Esta pantallización se hace evidente en un capital de valioso cocimiento escolar concentrado en la información según usos y necesidades de consulta escolar y en su indagación con medios electrónicos que instauran una interacción discursiva humano-computador en la cual el computador es una máquina dinámica de procesamiento de información.
Retos de la biblioteca
Las consultas han dejado de ser patrimonio exclusivo del libro y de la biblioteca pública en particular, no obstante que el libro se encuentra en complementariedad con las búsquedas de información por Internet. En este sentido son retos de la biblioteca pública:
• Mantenerse al tanto de las transformaciones en los criterios de búsqueda y los tipos de textos en los cuales circula el conocimiento escolar y al cual acuden los estudiantes
• Mantener conectadas, bajo criterios de convergencia, las consultas y búsquedas de información documental y bibliográfica con la información disponible tanto en libros físicos como en bases de datos.
• Lograr que la búsqueda que realizan los estudiantes tenga criterios confiabilidad documental, calidad en el tratamiento de la consulta y veracidad en el contenido de la información.
En síntesis, es fundamental promover la convergencia de herramientas de consulta y búsqueda documental y bibliográfica en las bibliotecas públicas para mantener las bibliotecas en conexión con los y las estudiantes, los profesores y las profesoras el mundo.
Esta convergencia de herramientas de acceso a la información permitirá a colegios y universidades mantener un nivel de actualidad documental y bibliográfica que se ha perdido con la reducción del inventario actualizado de las bibliotecas. Este nivel de actualidad se mantendrá, siempre y cuando se permita la coexistencia del texto impreso en papel y los dispositivos electrónicos de lectura en línea.
